OVERVIEW
They say if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. For Gorewear, that meant putting their new performance running line to the ultimate test — the streets, bridges, and tracks of NYC. Over two days, the team worked with two athlete groups across contrasting disciplines: a high-speed, high-intensity track workout at the East River Track, and a 32-mile perimeter run looping the entire island of Manhattan. The goal was to create launch assets that pull viewers into the grit and rhythm of the city, showcasing the durability and precision of Gorewear’s gear against the pulse of New York.
OBJECTIVE
Gorewear wanted to showcase their lightest, race-ready collection through a lens of authenticity and endurance — a story about athletes who train through anything. The content needed to highlight the technical features of the gear in motion, while capturing the emotion and exhaustion that define elite training.
CREATIVE APPROACH
As the DP, Chris approached the project with the eye of both a filmmaker and an athlete. Having competed in high-level endurance sports for years, he leaned into those familiar moments of energy, tempo, and fatigue to create a piece that feels grounded, raw, and immersive. For this shoot, Chris opted for a set of DZO Cine primes to emphasize the warm tonal flares and orange character of New York’s early dawn, mirroring the quiet intensity of the city. His camera work moved between kinetic handheld sequences and intimate, product compositions. Working alongside director Dave Hashim, the two moved fluidly with the athletes — running alongside them, adapting on the fly, and capturing the physical and emotional edge that defines Gorewear’s ethos: performance without compromise.
