OVERVIEW
Lightning Fast Comms is a high-energy BTS short created as part of Midland USA’s brand storytelling campaign, spotlighting their radios in action during the 2024 Leadville 100 ultramarathon. The project brought together chef and endurance athlete Dan Churchill, Rivian, and Yerba Studios to showcase how seamless communication enables precision, safety, and creative coordination in extreme filming environments.
OBJECTIVE
The goal was to highlight Midland’s reliability and precision through a real-world use case: coordinating complex aerial and ground-based filming sequences in extreme mountain terrain. By embedding Midland’s radios into the production workflow, the piece demonstrates how crucial communication is for capturing high-impact visuals safely and efficiently.
CREATIVE APPROACH
Directed and filmed by Chris Foy and Alex Lawson, the film captures the chase between a Rivian R1T and a racing drone through Colorado’s alpine landscapes. The FPV footage—piloted by Chris—intercuts with live radio chatter between the Rivian driver, camera operators, and the aerial team, immersing viewers in the pulse of an action-packed production. The result is a raw, kinetic showcase of coordination, precision, and trust—brought to life by Midland’s communication systems and the teams that rely on them.
