OVERVIEW
Southbound 400 is a three-day, 400-mile ultra relay spanning from the Canadian border to the southern tip of Manhattan via the Empire State Trail. Teams of eight runners β€” supported by up to four crew members β€” race continuously, regrouping each night at campgrounds before finishing in Manhattan on Day 3.

OBJECTIVE
As one of the race’s main sponsors, AG1 commissioned Chris to help create a social campaign that went beyond simple race recaps β€” capturing the grit, exhaustion, and raw determination of athletes pushing through the elements and distance to reach the finish.

CREATIVE APPROACH
Working as one of the DPs under lead director Dave Hashim, Chris joined the on-the-ground media team responsible for filming and posting real-time content throughout the event. Operating on little sleep, the crew captured authentic, high-intensity footage from moving vehicles, trails, and elevated vantage points, documenting every leg of the 400-mile journey. The resulting visuals celebrated endurance, teamwork, and the relentless push that defined Southbound 400.
